About the event
Beginners Yoga Workshop
This gentle and informative workshop is a welcoming introduction to yoga, designed to help you step onto the mat with confidence, curiosity, and a clear understanding of the foundations of practice.
This is a 4-week workshop series
Session dates:
Wed 18 March | 10:30am - 12:30pm
Wed 25 March | 10:30am - 12:30pm
Wed 1 April | 10:30am - 12:30pm
Wed 8 April | 10:30am - 12:30pm
Across the course, we will explore the essential elements of yoga in a simple, supportive, and accessible way. You’ll be introduced to breath awareness and foundational pranayama practices, including three-part yogic breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and other calming techniques to regulate the nervous system. Each session includes guided movement through foundational asana (postures), offered slowly and with clear alignment cues so you can honour your body exactly as it is.
Beyond the physical practice, we’ll also explore what yoga truly is beyond the poses. You’ll gain a basic understanding of key yogic philosophy, including the Eight Limbs of Yoga, the Yamas and Niyamas, and an overview of different styles such as Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Yin, and Kundalini. Gentle meditation practices, mantra, and relaxation techniques will be woven throughout to cultivate mindfulness and inner ease.
This workshop creates a calm and encouraging space to ask questions, move mindfully, and build a strong, informed foundation for your yoga journey. By the end, you’ll feel more grounded, knowledgeable, and comfortable stepping into regular classes or developing your own home practice.
